life and other stuff

A pause in posting - a moment for living.

After a whole harsh week of an entrance exam I flew to Spain with a friend. We explored four different cities: Bilbao, San Sebastian, Zaragoza and Madrid. It was an efficient, yet brilliant two-week trip. Especially the Basque Country had some of the most beautiful views I've seen!

About the applying results. I made my way one point behind a backup place (Fin: pisteen päähän varasijasta). Not so bad to get ranked somewhere in the top 20. I did not get in, but I will happily continue my studies in textile design at Metropolia University. :)

I tend to promise more pictures and stories of my trips, and what I've learned is the fact that it's surprisingly hard to keep those promises... Never did another post about London + Sheffield + York. I have quite a load of photos taken in my camera / phone this time too, so we'll see what happens.

I will be busy with many positive things this summer. If you can, go and enjoy your time in the sun! :D

Yesterday was the very last day of the entrance exams. I truly tried to focus on doing my best.

Aalto 'zine' 2013

As before, I'm going to post pictures of my admission assignment. This year there needs to be only one for me. After all, I am in the middle of design studies right now - so who's that crazy bitch who wants to do all that rumba once again?

Here it is, my tabloid size 'zine' called AMANDATORY, neatly documented.

I also made a (very yellow) two-sided A3 poster with infographics to make a clarified impression of myself. Read the texts by clicking the pictures.

First you're an individual and then you're compared. Still one last day left in the final exam. And then I just wait.

ennakkotehtävä - Super Edition

The word 'super' derives from two things today. Firstly I got an exam invitation letter from the last school I applied to, School of Arts, Design and Architecture! Happy happy! Secondly the word 'super' is for the amount of the following photos and the time spent on editing them. If you own a crappy camera, you have to retouch the images and nothing changes that fact, ever. At least that's how it goes for me, damn you perfectionism. Oh well.


This photo of me was originally taken for this CULT magazine, not for the layout of the Metropolia motivation letter. Feather earrings are somewhat my trademark. Now BAM, here's my fanzine:

I came across a little accident which almost caused me a trauma. I noticed at the printing place that the title font is incorrect throughout the whole magazine. In the upper pic you can see how it should've looked like.


I also made a card with info graphics which was required in the assignment.

All this took many long hours. I'm happy that all the work paid off.

so far...

Now, at last, I'm going to release the works that got me into the exams at Metropolia / graphic design. First the layout of the motivation letter, then the piece based on the lyrics of an old Finnish song and then the superhero cartoon with some photos of its details. Behold! :D

So now I'm just hoping sooo very, very deeply that the entrance exam will go well. I'm relieved to get even this far.
