today (and tomorrow) at the Cable Factory

Kierrätystehdas / Recycling Factory is Finland's biggest annual event for sustainable lifestyle. I visited the event again this year and rotated myself around the place for a little while. astubutiikkiin.fi had an own department too. :)

The spirit of the whole event is recycling and upcycling. I was happy to find some good leather pieces for projects that I'm planning to accomplish at some point.

Enjoy the spring folks!

extreme haste

Phew! I mean... I have been really busy with school. Our class is going to participate in the biggest international textile fair, Heimtextil , in Frankfurt next January (!).

Go check out our project blog and have a look at what it's all about. We are on Facebook too! :)

Habitare fair this year wasn't as congested as I would have expected. I saw interesting things here and there, but... I ended up being more intrigued by the pieces at the antique corner.

color on skin

A good friend of mine has a few multicolored tattoos. Some days ago she told me about the kind of tattoos that look like they are painted with aquarelles. I felt very fascinated about that! So I searched through Pinterest and made a small collage of those watercolor tattoos that I found beautiful.

Not planning to have one, though.

simple mood

Now that is interesting. I found a cool thing from indiska.com - a moodboard editor. You can play with textures, stamps, colors and the lovely interior pictures. What a fun way to shirk from doing school stuff.

Eva has a band

My friend Eva makes lovely music and I fell in love with their California Shrills music video! If you like it, go 'like' it here. ;)

happy face!

YAY!

There has been a long break in posting - I know - but this time I have two kind on happy news! First of all: Piparkakkutyttö gave me this nice recognition that truly made my day! Thank you! :D

The idea is to thank the blogger who gave you the recognition, post The Versatile Blogger Award picture with your blog post and tell seven random facts about yourself. Then name 7 (I dropped the number down from 15) most versatile blogs that you like and go tell them too. :)

Kiitä bloggaajaa, jolta sait tunnustuksen. Lisää The Versatile Blogger Award-kuva postaukseesi. Kerro seitsemän satunnaista faktaa itsestäsi. Nimeä 15bloggaajaa ja kerro heille tunnustuksesta.

Random facts, here we go:

1. I like going to a party where I actually don't know anyone but the host. It's refreshing to start chatting with people you have never seen and usually you can find great individuals with so many interesting stories about their lives.

2. I have a good sense of smell. I live in the capital city with pollution and dust and all that, but I still think my nose is more accurate than most people's noses are. At the moment I love the smell of SPRING outdoors, especially in the woods.

3. My memory is the worst in the whole world. The list of examples is endless and I won't even start because it's so depressing....

4. I eat lots of nuts, rather than sweets.

5. I'm fascinated by shapes and forms of trees. Divi trees that have grown diagonally twisted are insanely beautiful. One reason to go to Aruba.

6. Sometimes I get strange inspirations, like the other night when I made a tunic out of a ripped old linen curtain, which I had bought with two euros a few days earlier. It made me feel so good!

7. I like to drink port wine with my boyfriend, just the two of us, preferably on a casual weekday with nothing else important.

And then the blogs that get a recognition from me (I'm not that keen on following blogs that I could name all 15!)

For the record, I won't be offended if I don't get any responses, but I felt this was a nice gesture for myself anyhow.

The other good news: I got accepted to the entrance exams for graphic design and textile design in Metropolia. YAY again! So far so good. Still waiting for a few more letters...

all that - hands down

I came across something visually very, VERY cool. It's called The Material Group. In their own words an interactive design and development studio. Check out their summarizing video on Vimeo here. The music blew my mind! All that makes me more and more interested in 3D graphics and animation. But how come everything that comes from Chicago is so freaking cool??

Collage made from screenshots from Vimeo - too bad you can't share the video here in Blogger.

DEEN iT show at the International Cultural Centre Caisa

Tomorrow after work I'm heading to a fashion show where my friend Aaminah is going to be the head of design for her new scarf collection. And this is the second time already! Today there was also an article in Metro newspaper and I felt so proud!

Remember the DEEN iT purple logo? It's made by me. :) Next some pictures of the last year's show at Caisa. This time Aaminah (in the picture on right) will launch the collection by herself.

And here is the today's article on Metro newspaper (with quite small font and only in Finnish unfortunately).

Now go and click LIKE on DEEN iT facebook page!! :)

// In addition: the next day there was also an interview with great pictures in Helsingin Sanomat. Nice! ;D

go explore!

Today I had an inspiring day with myself. I went to the biggest furniture / interior decoration / design / light/ art / antique fair in Finland:

I also visited ArtHelsinki exhibition and saw amazingly beautiful things:

You still have time to visit Habitare 2011 if you're interested - latest on this sunday! I took even more photos today but I think I need some sleep now. And having an actual hard core camera would spare me the exhausting photo editing... See you soon! :)
